Who we are

Circolo Curiel was founded in 1971 and takes its name from Eugenio Curiel, a young communist killed in Milan in 1945 by a squad of Black Brigades. The founding members, which sympathized with left wing Italian parties, wanted to create a meeting space for Italian emigrants in Luxembourg and for all those who shared the same ideas of political and social progress that still inspire the work of the association.

In the first years after the foundation of the association, thanks to a bank loan and by donations of the members themselves, the Club bought the building located at 107 of Route d'Esch in the municipality of Luxembourg. Between 1978 and 1983, the Club remained closed and underwent renovations. On May 1st 1983 Circolo Curiel reopened its doors to the public with a bar-restaurant space on the ground floor, rooms for meetings, exhibitions and projections on the first floor and, lastly, on the second floor, an Italian library.

Circolo Curiel is today a meeting place, a discussion and conviviality forum open to the Italian community in Luxembourg and beyond: we organizes both conferences on a variety of subjects, as well as recreationall and social events. The Circolo Curiel premises are open, to the extent possible, to general public, associations and other organized groups, who would wish to organize activities compatible with the statutory and social purposes of the association.
